| The first thing I did was to call the company which had sent me the camera. The customer service representatives tried to convince me that I should just use the lenses they had sent me, that it was a "good deal".
But my friend, who had lent me the photographic catalog in the first place, took one look at the set of lenses I received in the mail, and said: "This catalog has the BBB seal on it. That means, we can appeal to the Better Business Bureau."
I had never appealed to the Better Business Bureau before. I had heard of the organization vaguely, but had never needed to take advantage of their services. In this case, my friend and I wrote a letter to the company advertising the camera, and returned the set of lenses which had been sent to us. In our letter, we stated that we would appeal the whole case to the Better Business Bureau if the company did not send us the advertised set of lenses. We sent another copy of the letter to the BBB.
The company's response was to send me the set of lenses that were in the advertisement, and that I had ordered. Just the threat of action by the Better Business Bureau caused this company to change its stance.
In conclusion, I would like to express thanks to the BBB as a consumer who has benefited from their services, and to suggest to other consumers that they might benefit by contacting this organization, if they have need to do so.
