Much of the best late modernist architecture in Georgia (from 1960 to 1990) has disappeared, demolished after the collapse of the Soviet Union led to a surge in lawless privatisation and corruption. Preserving the nation’s cultural heritage was the government’s lowest priority, and most records of Soviet-era construction projects were destroyed. →
